Chong Zhao Postdoctoral Researcher

Chong Zhao is a postdoctoral researcher in the Michelmann Lab, where he investigates how interactions between working memory and long-term memory shape the formation of event memories in the brain and behavior. He is also interested in the computational mechanisms underlying event structure and their role in memory formation in both humans and machine learning systems. Before joining the lab, Chong was an undergraduate research assistant at Vanderbilt University, where he triple majored in Engineering Science, Cognitive Studies, and Applied Mathematics. He then earned his Ph.D. in Computational Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Chicago. His previous research examined how interactions between working memory and long-term memory support learning within and across individuals. To investigate these questions, he combined behavioral experiments with eye tracking, noninvasive brain stimulation, computational modeling, EEG, and fMRI.
